Lake Königssee

We've been training for the last few days, so to relax and experience the area a couple of us went out on the famous Lake Königssee boat tour.

The lake was beautiful. It's an average of 150 meters deep, and over 200 meters in some places, and is one of the cleanest lakes in the world. It was so clear!

The mountains.

The view of the track from the lake. They cleverly built it so that it never gets hit by the sun, as it's in the shadow of the adjoining mountain.

"There's a lot of drinking on that IC tour."

(Though, that was my 3rd drink of the entire 2 weeks I've been here.)

The "Echowand" or "Echowall." Our tour guide played the trumpet for us, and the mountain played it right back, amazing.

The boat stopped at a monastery from the 1600s, and we walked around for a bit.

Stokes went into the phone booth, and before I could get a photo he was leaving again. See him looking up as he hastily exits?

He's looking at this bad boy:

Shudder.

We went into the little chapel, and like most, it was decorated in deep, bold colors such as deep red and gold. The ceiling, however, was surprising: baby pink.

With pink cherubs.

The ducks were friendly - I'm sure they get fed a lot.

While Stokes and I were looking out over the lake, Caleb snapped a sweet photo.

So we tried to recreate it with all three of us, with the self-timer, but it wasn't quite as nice. Still, a good photo.

I decided to catch the next boat back to town, since it was FREEZING outside (looks deceptively warm, I know, but trust me, it wasn't). The boys stayed to have some brats and beers at the little pub there. A few hours later, here's the aftermath, them dancing in Keslie's room right after they got back. The beers and brats were pretty tasty....and as the saying goes, there's a lot of drinking on that IC tour. ;)
