ICC 2009-2010, Königssee Germany, first days

The drive from Winterberg to Königssee is a long one, over 7 hours, so we had to entertain ourselves.

One van used a mini projector combined with white paper taped to the seat to watch South Park.

A stop at a Burger King, while fun and the most convenient option, had everyone regretting it only a half hour later. Blech! Never again.

I drove our van the whole way due to some residual party effects for some of our members, since I missed the after party, and also since I just love to drive (and it's the best way to not get carsick). We made pretty good time, and got here in time for dinner.

The next two days, we weren't allowed any ice time on the track, so we found other ways to entertain ourselves. We were responsible too - I did a lot of work, Annie did a lot of homework, and Keslie blogged - but we also played and did more team building.

The waterpark, which you saw last year, made for some good fun. I have no idea why we did this, but we did:

We played on the water slide for a while, even going skeleton style down it. The second oscillation was pretty strong though, so I only took a few runs. ;) Here's Keslie getting sucked down:

We also had an underwater somersault contest - press release coming soon on that.

We got a track walk in, and watched some of the other sessions. I really love this track - the best analogy is that it's like a rickety old wooden roller coaster (credit to Keslie for the quote). Here she is watching the exit of Kreisel:

The track is a lot of fun, and is old school, and set into one of the most beautiful locations. Doesn't it look like a wooden roller coaster?

The foggy weather by the track:

I couldn't stop taking pictures this morning:

It really reminds me of Guilin in southern China actually, the limestone pillars rising out of the mist. Beautiful.

Keslie and Matt talking about the Kreisel; we're standing in the middle of it to watch sleds going around.
