Altenberg - Day 2
Day 2 of training was today, with the participants divided into two groups so the numbers are more manageable. There are 25 or so women, and 33 or so men, so they broke us up by nations; group 1 slid this morning at 9, and we slid in group 2 at 11am.
Of course, I had a little less trepidation today since there were two safe runs under my belt, but I was still a bit nervous and made sure to talk to the track to tell it that I wasn't taking anything for granted, and that I knew it was still the boss.
First run went pretty well, though I still had some unfortunate skids and bumps to slow me down. Second run felt better, except for a bigger hit and drop out of turn 9, which in turn skidded me into Kriesel and resulted in a slower time. Still I'm getting there and feel more comfortable on the track than I expected after only 4 runs!
The track made sure to put me in my place though, taking a little warning bite in the outrun. The walls in the outrun are pretty chunky, and as I was coming out of the last corner my sled just barely tapped the wall; there it was, a snakebite in the back of my hand. Don't worry track, I fully respect you.
After lunch, we watched video of our runs with our surrogate coach (name to be entered and spelled later since I don't want to butcher it here), who is the coach for the "small nations" like Finland and Mexico and so on who don't have their own coaches. He adopted us and is helping us out a bunch.
Hmm, so the USA can't afford to send a coach with their Europa Cup team? Kinda ironic, that, eh? Shrug, so be it.

We also went out and about for the first time, and as soon as I get the pics off of Cassie's camera (I forgot mine, oops), I'll put up a post about it. Just a hint: the apple cider was very interesting....
