17mph club!
So even with all the injuries and recovery, the training is going well, and my body feels great and has been treating me right! Progress is being made, since Friday last week was a day with two big hurdles passed:
- squatted 200 lbs, 5 reps
- joined the "17mph club" at TOSH
Then, a couple hours later, I went to TOSH for my sprint workout. It was our trainer's last day there (a new trainer is coming on, but we'll miss our old one) and I had gotten it in my head to try and pass the 17mph test for the occasion, though after the squats I had my doubts (my quads felt like they were made of clay).
My previous max was 16mph...and for what it's worth a lot of girls can make it to 16, but 17 is a huge leap. Which is why they set the test level at that speed, of course.
And after my usual sprint workout, we chucked the speed up to 17 and I held it and passed the speed test on my first try! Screaming and yelling and jumping up and down, I barely heard my trainer laugh and say "that was too easy, turn it up to 18." (Which he did, but I was so tired that my body refused to hold the requisite 6 seconds for that to count as my speed. Happy enough for 17.)
What a day. I'm still hardly able to walk today, but it was worth it. Yay!
