Pro
I did it. Finally. Bit the bullet and sent in my request to USACycling for an upgrade in my license - from Expert to Pro.
Three days later, I'm a Pro Downhiller. EEEK!
So scary! Now I'll be racing the best in the nation, and will hopefully not come in last, too often at least. Figure this will push me - Pros race the same courses as the Experts, so that won't change. The field of competition will change though, and being in the lower third as opposed to the top will hopefully motivate me to go faster!
I'm also riding for Velo-Bella Kona team, an all-women team that is trying out a Pro Downhiller team this year. We're not fully sponsored this year, but hopefully will pave the way for a fuller sponsorship / team system next year. This team is all about inspiring women to ride, motivation, teamwork, and personal quality over results. I'm stoked!
