A new addition to the family!

Hahah, yeah, right.

I know what you were thinking. Patience young one(s), that announcement will come in several / a few / many years from now.

But the other day we went shopping at Costco. A huge pile of stuffed animals sat on the end of one aisle, and suddenly one giant teddy bear sat up by itself! It only took a moment to realize that someone on the other side of the stack was trying to get one down, but it still looked amazingly realistic.

And I was intrigued. So I walked over and pulled one down myself.

One hug was all it took.

Why, you ask? Well, about 2 1/2 decades ago, I had a bear similarly sized.

Well, to tell the truth, it was MUCH smaller than this bear, but it just happened to be the exact same size as me at the time, and I dragged it all over the place. So a weak moment of nostalgia for an ancient "my-size" bear caused the new and somewhat gianter "my-current-size" bear to land in the cart.

For $29.99. Can't argue with that.

Jean Luc tried to eat it at first. Maybe he felt threatened by the way Brad is hugging it?

But then he decided to make peace.

I played a joke on Brad with it...when he came to get in bed there was no room for him. Bwah hah hah!

But it quickly moved into the guest room.

As for its future? I think I'm going to seatbelt it into the passenger seat of my car and see how many people comment on it.

Should be an interesting social experiment, no? Or it'll just live in the guest room and startle guests. That would also be fun.

How could I not buy a life-sized bear? Maybe I just miss the real deal from Alaska.
