Vegas - 2010
I know it looks like we traveled a lot this spring - and we did. Brad and I went to Florida to visit his family (see previous posts) and also to Vegas to celebrate our 5th anniversary (7 months late since our anniversary is in September, a bad time for us to go anywhere due to training and skeleton). In addition, I went to New Orleans for work, and to Colorado Springs for the national team camp. Phew! Exhausting just remembering it.
It's nice to have been home / stationary for a while. Picks up again in September for skeleton push championships (over our 6th anniversary, so expect a post in March about how we celebrate late again, heh).
Anyway, Vegas is fantastic. It's cheap since it's so close, and we can find deals on hotels. (Or get help from the in-laws as a gift, grin.) It's a 45 minute flight away, and offers beach amenities without having to go to Bora Bora.
We didn't gamble a single penny during the trip since there's just so much to do and see! And so many interesting (weird) people to watch!
We ate a lot...and I didn't care since I was still in "I'm injured" self-pity mode, but I've long since worked it off, thankfully! This buffet at the Wynn was decadent.
Went to a Keith Urban concert at the Hard Rock Cafe. He's fabulous live, in case you wondered. One of the best guitarists I've ever seen and the most passionate!
I kept taking pictures of the bassist since he looks (and stands, and holds his jaw) just like my friend Kristoffer. and I wanted to send a copy to him.
We went to La Reve, a theatre-in-the-round show of acrobatic dance and water movements that rival any Cirque de Soleil.
In typical Vegas over-the-topness, the seats came with champagne and chocolate and flowers.
We walked the strip and watched the moon come out from behind the Palazzo.
Rode the monorail.
Walked through the crazy gardens at the various casinos - this one is at the Bellagio.
We also rode a couple rollercoasters, did some shopping, sat by the pool, sat in the hot tub, and generally relaxed. And then came home, happy to sleep in our own bed and thankful that we only spent 2 days there. We love Vegas, but it's best in small doses!
I agree that Vegas is, perhaps, the best place to be a people watcher. Looks like fun. And congrats on the 5th anniversary. One of these days I'd love to catch a double-date with you and Brad.
