Jean Luc is the most spoiled dog...
Since my foot is injured (stress injury to a bone in the top of my foot) and I haven't been able to take him running in 6 weeks, Jean Luc seems to be feeling a little neglected. Or bored. Or something. Or maybe I'm projecting.
Regardless of the real reason, I learned how to play with PVC pipe last weekend, all in a quest to give our dog some entertainment....
I started off by wandering Home Depot with a vague pattern in mind, and leaving with a pile of PVC pipe and joints, some carpet, and a long board. (No, I don't have a picture since the thought of documentation didn't come until later in the process. It was an impressive pile though, trust me!)
I will say that a pair of these is the best investment when working with PVC:
Otherwise, it would have been too much time with the hacksaw. Blech. These though, they cut like a dream.
Look at that clean line! No sanding or buffing necessary.
I also learned about the purple glue, kinda funny; now there are purple spots all over the garage.
But even my clumsiness and newbieism didn't hold me back, and the toys slowly started to come together.
To protect Jean Luc when going over a jump, this half cut allows the cross bar to simply fall out if his legs hit (sadly, had to use the hacksaw after all due to the angles on this one).
Jean Luc seemed to know something fun was up, and rolled around excitedly.
For more space, I had to move out of the garage.
And got to play with carpet, wood, and staples.
And then...they were done!
Weave poles, an agility feature that the dogs are supposed to weave through from one end to the other. Usually they are in a straight line to be more difficult, but these are made so they stand independently and can be moved closer or farther depending on the dogs ability.
And a multiple-height jump, and a teeter totter! The totter is my favorite - I was super stoked to see that it actually worked!
We've played with the stunts a few times, but haven't taken the camera yet. Jean Luc was so excited the first day that he just kept running and jumping over everything, then started running circles around us, so no pictures that day, hah! Soon to come.
