ICC 2009-2010, Winterberg, Recovery
After the first race was canceled, we went back to the hotel to unpack and regroup. My legs were super tired and sore after pushing so fast, and I was concerned that all my energy had been wasted on a "race" that turned into training only.
After only a few moments of discussion, Caleb and I decided we needed an ice bath to help the legs recover for the next day.
The only problem: our rooms didn't have tubs, only showers. Hmm.
We drove down the road in the rain.
And parked in a dark parking lot at a hotel.
There's a fast little river down there somewhere...I'm not sure I believe it.
We climbed down the steep bank, and yes, sat in a river. It was so cold, and I wore my shoes to keep warm. And to keep the fish from nibbling on me...ok, there were no fish but I did freak out for a moment about a leaf that kept poking me. Hey, it was dark and all I could see was a dark shape that kept coming back to my toes!
The aftermath - I'm so cold!
It worked though, and my legs felt so much better. The next day in the race, I pushed another 5.60 which made me so happy. :)
