Skullcandy props

As mentioned in a previous post, I bought a pair of full-over-ear headphones for racing.

I do/ feel better when I listen to the right music before a race; music has a LOT of power to affect a mental state for a race. In fact, if my ipod battery dies, or I don't download the right playlist, thigns may not go so well! (Lately, among other things the new album by Kanye West has been my theme of choice. Along with a few classical tunes to relax to....)

Not only that, but I also prefer to not hear the announcements for other athletes. It's not that I don't want to know what times they get, but in general hearing every run tends to distract me and make me nervous. Especially when someone has a super run and lays down a solid time...

Anyway, Friday night before the first race, I was be-bopping along and a friend showed up to say hi and wish me luck....I reached up to pull my headphones off my left ear and the headset snapped! I was stunned, and so sad! And terrified I'd be music-less...

A little tape and they were able to get me through the race (phew!), and since I just purchased them in January, I submitted a warranty request to Skullcandy after the race Saturday.

By Monday, I had received an RMA number (Return Merchandise Authorization), and since they are located in Park City it made less sense to mail them, so I drove to their office on Wednesday.

  • I walked in and said I had an RMA.
  • A smiling lady sent me immediately to the right office, no questions asked.
  • 2 minutes later, I had 3 color choices in front of me for an on-the-spot free replacement,
  • But I love LOVE the crazy Rasta color I'd originally had, so...
  • 2 minutes later they had submitted an order for a pair to be shipped to my house.
Amazing. Such great service, product support, warranty. Just awesome. I'll be their fans for life, and they aren't even a sponsor! (Yet.....heh.)

Here are the headphones in use warming up in Italy:
