Igls ICC - 2009

I just got back to the hotel from our first race in Igls - well, the only race actually since both Igls and Konigssee are one-race stops.

After 4 foggy and cloudy and gloomy training days, the sun broke out and the sky was crystal blue, and Brad finally believed me about the huge mountains that surrounded us.

(Brad coming to Europe is another post that I'm late on - it was going to be called "5 countries in 6 hours" and detailing our trip from Piemonte to Munich to meet Brad at the airport, leaving Italy and passing through Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, and Germany, then back to Austria on a 6 hour journey. Long story short - he came to slide in Igls and to tour around with us and help out with video and whatnot in Konigssee. He got 4 days of sliding in and is having a great time - most importantly helping get his mind out of the ruts it's gotten into in Park City.)

Anyway, we're about to head to dinner so this will be short. I'm really happy with how things went though!

  • Run #1: a 7th place push time
  • Didn't hold the push time speed, and had a terrible run, but held it together enough for a 17th place finish.
  • THAT MEANS I GOT A SECOND RUN! WOOT WOOT!
  • Second run, push was only 1 hundredth slower
  • Down time was a PR for me, by over a tenth of a second, a 56.85
  • Second run was a 16th place finish
  • Total: 18th place overall. (Yeah, 17th and 16th means 18th when you don't beat the same people each time!)
Anyway, I'm happy. And hungry, so off to dinner. Ciao!
