Tourists in Lake Placid
A couple friends (Allie from the Velo Bella downhill team, and her husband Mike) live about four hours away, just outside New York, and drove up to visit us in Lake Placid this weekend. They cheered for us in our races Saturday morning, then we spent the afternoon and Sunday morning actually doing touristy things! It was really cool, since when we're here we usually just sit in the Training Center and never get out to see anything.
We watched a couple bobsled races, walked on the old bobsled track (from the 1932 games and modified for the 1980 games, now retired) visited the hockey rinks, walked around downtown, ate dinner, and hit the nordic jumps for a national race.
We saw some crazy bobsled moves here at the exit of curve 12, but didn't catch any on film. here's the spot though:

I'm not a cavewoman - but the turkey leg at the nordic jumps was amazing!
Allie, however, may be a cave-woman in disguise...that leg didn't stand a chance.
Ski jumpers think WE'RE crazy???
