Sundance Super D and Downhill

Labor Day weekend was the Utah Go-Ride Series race at Sundance. After a month of babying myself after Nationals, just riding and taking it easy (well, as easy as still full-training for skeleton can be...read: not easy), I decided to do both the Super D and the Downhill.

Sunday, the SD kicked my butt...but was SO FUN! The Sundance SDs are usually long, and this was no exception - the women all had times of around 19-21 minutes, and the men ranged from 14 - 23 minutes. But, that's ok since it was just a fun fun trail and a fun fun ride!

Then we went to practice for the DH. I was feeling a little timid, but with the patience and patience and help and patience of Addie and Jackie, I finally hit the off-camber log drop that, of course, in hindsight was super easy. It's all mental!

Monday, we showed up for the downhill, and then.....

Even though we were all geared up for the rain and mud:

Finally, after waiting over 4 hours for the lifts to open and the race to proceed, they called it. Postponed until the next weekend.

Poor L. was sad since she was running a marathon (yes, crazy girl) on Saturday and would be forced to miss the rescheduled DH race:

The next Saturday, we lucked out with fabulous weather! Raced, then rode, and hung out, and had an all around good time. I love riding with the girls, and we made a new friend, a girl that lives in SLC and races DH! Lucky!
