Best spring day...
Ok, it could have been better, I could have been RIDING my bikes, but with a punctured lung/broken rib keeping me off the bikes (oh, haven't written the rib story yet, hang on, it's coming), this was just about pure heaven.
First, I went for a hike with my do,g and with a friend and her new puppy, and got the enjoyment of clipping the puppy (4 months, needs training) to my dog (4 years, stays nearby) to have the puppy learn from my dog. He was so patient!
He loves the snow:

ANYWAY, the best part of the day was spending about 7 hours at the bike shop, working on my bikes, and realizing that I know more about them than I thought! Head tube facing, headset pressing, BB/crank installation, hey! I can do this!
I started with this:
and stripped it to the frame, installing the AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL and LIGHT (the fork is more than 2 lbs lighter than my old one!!!) upgrade parts from SRAM: X.0 rear shifter and derailleur (the der looks like a work of art - I'll take a closeup picture later), chain and road cassette, WORLD CUP BOXXER!!!, among others, to end up with this:
I know, it's missing the BB and cranks, but I need a shorter spindle for my BB, so I'm waiting for a replacement. Since I can't ride outdoors for a week or two anyway, I'm in no hurry. Once I get the BB, the cranks, pedals, and chain will go on and it'll be fully functional.
I also took this (which I bought for cheap this winter, back when I had no bikes and just NEEDed to have at least a frame so I could feel like I was still a biker):
and with some of the stripped parts from the DH bike, and parts my friend sold me, ended up with this:
a fully functional dirt jumper, with which I'll start learning flat pedals (aack! the scariness of not being clipped in) and doubles at I-street this summer!
What a super day!
