Qualified!
Yep, both of us qualified for Nationals, taking second place in our respective races. What's so exciting about it is that the woman who placed third had been beating me consistently in practice. Yay! I swear it was the crash that did it, scaring me and forcing an even better comeback.
So look for stories this coming weekend. Here's to making it to Nationals in our second season of sliding. Sweet!
And dumb injury: second day of racing, first run. Finish the run, have my sled weighed and put it in the truck. Walking off the truck, and slip, my left leg falling between the truck bed and the dock. Ouch. The official at the finish thought I'd sprained my ankle and called for the medics; he didn't realize (or hear me say several times) that it was just a bruised shin. But I'll admit I was in tears - the dent on my shin was clearly visible through my speedsuit! It hurt. The medics of course just gave me ice and sent me on my way, grin.
But how embarassing - my second visit with the medics in one week. Bruised ego. ;)
