Mayor's Half Marathon / Alaska trip
Ran my first ever half-marathon while in Alaska, June 17th. It was AWESOME! Ran the WHOLE damn thing, walking only a few seconds through each aid station (after spilling the nasty gatorade-imitation-mockery all over myself running through the first one). Even ran up the evil bitch of a hill right before the finish, super steep and made me mad, grin!
Brad & Jeanette were there to cheer me in at the finish (and take this pic), great feeling for sure.
Here I am after the finish, feeling dizzy and SO excited to be done!
The watermelon was SO TASTY at the finish (and the rich bread from the Great Alaskan Bread Co., mmmmm.)
Finished in 2:32, holding pretty steady at 11 minute miles most of the time, which is slow for many but solid for me, grin. Placed 377th out of 837, so pretty middle! Cool.
The rest of our time in Alaska was pretty great too. For pictures, go to Brad's site with heaps of pictures. Grin.
Oh yeah, I dyed my hair auburn the day before flying to AK, and it, um, turned out a LOT redder than forseen. It's mellowed since, and I really like it, but a guy in the race started calling me Red. Kinda funny.
