Road biking - with Brad!
Another Brad related miracle...
I've had a road bike for a couple years, ever since I broke both wrists (remember that? Blech) and was only allowed to ride road. But Brad has had no interest in road biking, thanks to:
- all the idiot drivers that think they own the road and bikers are trespassing, and want to drive bikes off the road, and
- all the idiot bikers that don't obey traffic laws, which then just makes the drivers madder....
But...one day this fall...a nice afternoon came around...and surprise! We have a road bike for him. Bought it for $15 on Craigslist last summer (and then put a bit of work into it to make it go, heh). Even though it's ancient and has downtube shifters...he looks a little dubious.

Is he really going to get on....yep.

Will he just ride around the neighborhood? Nope...

We rode out to the Swaner Nature Preserve and back, which gave us about an 8 mile round trip.

I almost killed myself riding with one hand for a while, trying to get the camera to work, but finally I got an action shot.

Then a self portrait, just 'cause.

When we got home, we made sandwiches. Brad was super helpful, and made mine for me. It felt a little lumpy, and when I opened the bread, found only these:

The verdict? (The ride, not the grape sandwich...): Thumbs up! He'll even go again, as long as we stay in low-traffic areas. Can do!
